I was admitted to Baptist Floyd in March of 2024 with pneumonia, blood infection, and blood clots. After 10 days of intensive treatment I was transferred to Charleston Place. After several month of rehab, I have all of my physical function and stamina. I am grateful for the excellent therapy and therapists who helped me recover.

Orthopedic Rehab Success
When Carter arrived to Charlestown Place he had endured a series of hospitalizations and surgeries related to a wound infection on his foot. He was severely deconditioned and had lost strength in his upper and lower body and was non weight bearing on his leg. He required a mechanical lift to get out of bed and into a wheelchair and could not maintain his balance sitting on the edge of the bed without physical assistance. One thing he did not lack was true motivation and a positive attitude. Carter worked day in and day out with physical and occupational therapy therapists Autumn & Haley and started his road to recovery. He progressed from the lift to the standing frame to the sliding board, to the parallel bars. He progressed to standing with a walker. He worked on his self-care from a seated position using compensatory strategies. He was eventually able to transition to standing for his self-care and completing on his own. We are so glad to have been a part of his journey!
