National bring your child to work day is celebrated on the fourth Thursday in April every year. Claremont Center in Point Pleasant, NJ, joined the nation on April 26 participating in this educational event.
The day originally was established to address self esteem and empower girls, but it was expanded in 2003 to include boys. We opened our doors and welcomed our employee's children to spend a day with us at Claremont Center. They were able to get a glimpse of the important roles their parents play in enhancing the lives of the Claremont Center residents.
The children participated in some of our recreation programs and assisted in various marketing projects. Our seniors enjoyed conversing with the students! The older generation offered a wealth of knowledge to pass along to the children about their life experiences. The children seemed to enjoy their day too. When asked what they want to be when they grow up, they replied a chef, engineer, and even the president of the USA! Who knows, maybe we have a few CNAs, RNs, and LPNs in the group too!
