The last week of January was filled with laughter, tears, and memories as Century Villa and Century Fields owners Janet Lemler, Penny Meurer, and Chandra Malott said goodbye to the senior living community their family built.
With the retirement of the center's leadership, ownership of Century Villa was transferred to not-for-profit Putnam County Hospital in Greencastle, Indiana, on February 1. "We know that the residents and staff that we cherished will be in good hands with Putnam County Hospital. Their mission, much like our own, is to care for residents with compassion and love while exceeding expectations of those they serve," said Penny Meurer. Putnam County Hospital is a 4-Star Overall Quality Rated critical care access hospital located in Greencastle, Indiana.
The new leadership team Century Villa and Century Fields have plans to retain staff members during this transition, excluding individuals who have retired. "We wish Janet, Penny, Chandra, and their family well in retirement," said Century Villa Executive Director Mike Gerig. "We know that the care they have given to so many seniors over the years is a legacy to cherish. We will work every day to honor that legacy," continued Gerig.
Century Villa is currently expanding services and will be hiring more staff as the center brings new services to the community, including cardiopulmonary programs and additional physical therapy care. Gerig explained, "This is an exciting time as a high level of clinical resources can be devoted to broadening the care Century Villa can provide so that more local residents may receive care close to home. Our goal is to take care of your family members just as is if they are our own, and we shall do just that."
Century Villa invites the community to tour the community to meet the team, including Executive Director Mike Gerig. For more information about Century Villa or Century Fields, please call (765) 628-3377.
